Brandon Scott
Assistant Worship Director
Hello, my name is Brandon Scott and I’m 23 years old. I have attended Crossroads Alliance Church for 13 years (since I was 10 years old). I’ve been involved with leading worship here at Crossroads since I was 13. I am currently serving as the Assistant Worship Director.
I was 7 years old when I came to know the Lord but it wasn’t until my teen years that I began to take my relationship with Lord further in knowledge and personal commitment. Through my high school years, I had issues with depression and got involved with the “goth” scene. I questioned if God really truly loved me and also had the same doubts when it came to my family life.
After I graduated from high school, I went on a year-long tour with CTI Music Ministries. I played bass guitar with our worship team called 14:21 and we traveled to the east and west coast of the U.S., part of Canada, and spent a month in Bolivia. I still struggled with depression and suicidal thoughts but during that time, the Lord challenged my heart and worked at peeling away the masks and defenses I had built up in my life. It was not until I returned home a year later in August that the Lord began healing my heart. As I was listening to the recording of our final concert, I broke down in tears. I felt the love of the Lord healing my heart of all the pain — taking away all the depression that I had. 2 years later, I have not been depressed since. I praise God everyday for His grace, mercy, and the new life he has given me!
I currently play guitar, bass, and drums. I started 3 months of drum lessons when I was 6 years old. I got my first drum kit when I was 10 and have been self-taught ever since. I picked up the guitar when I was 10 and was also self-taught. My early musical influences for drums and guitar included bands such as the Newsboys, Audio Adrenaline, and the O.C. Supertones. Later on, I came to enjoy hard-metal bands such as P.O.D., Project 86, and Pillar. Currently, I am very eclectic musically in what I listen to. I enjoy secular bands such as Nightwish, Within Temptation, and Kamelot. My favorite worship artists are David Crowder, Chris Tomlin, Hillsong, Matt Redman, Desperation Band and Jacob Kuiper.
I believe that the purpose of worship is to bring glory to our Father in everything we do. Worship is our love song to Him. It is a song that cannot be contained or conveyed purely with music but is an attitude of surrender and response of our hearts which we cannot help but express in every way possible.
I pray, dear friend, that the Lord would take these humble words and touch your life with them that you would find encouragement to seek the Lord on your own.
“O LORD, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory
above the heavens.
From the lips of children and infants
you have ordained praise
because of your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.
When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
what is man that you are mindful of him,
the son of man that you care for him?
You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings
and crowned him with glory and honor.
You made him ruler over the works of your hands;
you put everything under his feet:
all flocks and herds,
and the beasts of the field,
the birds of the air,
and the fish of the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas.
O LORD, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!” (Psalm 8:1-9, NIV).
